Thriving

Our garden is in full swing and as a result, alot of time is spent each week on weeding, harvesting, and now preserving.  Green beans and pickling cucumbers are two of the biggest and best producers this year. On Friday, Mike picked all that was ready, and yesterday, after being away for just two days, there was an abundance again. We've given away when we can, and several days a week are spent preserving. This is just what he did yesterday:
10 pints of green beans and 9 pints of sweet pickles
We're putting up this amount of vegetables at least 2x a week - and this year, Mike has done  most it, with the help of the boys, who are more than eager to learn. Thankfully, he has set up a little outdoor kitchen, saving wear and tear our real kitchen, and keeping the already warm temperatures from climbing any higher, Both boys are intrigued by the how the pressure cooker works and love the jumbo gas-powered "stove".

Plus cleaning up spills requires only an eager child and a garden hose, of which there is definitely no shortage around here!

Can't wait til we start on these yummy looking berries!

What are you all growing this year?

3 much apprecitated comments from readers!:

Our garden has been pretty amazing too!! I'm always in awe of what one tiny little seed can do!!!

We don't have a garden as we live in a condo.

Those berries look yummy but we can't grow them here in our hot climate.

Oh yum yum yum. Fresh homemade pickles. I could eat them all.
