Just the way it works I guess...

Yesterday while we were out and about doing a mini field trip to the local nursery we took a detour to Toys 'R Us. Skip had been saving up from Christmas, his birthday, and responsibility money (formerly known as allowance) and wanted to check out his options - again. Last two times he looked but didn't buy anything -once because what he wanted wasn't in stock, and once because what he wanted cost more than he had saved. Harry has a little saved from his responsibility money so he was on the lookout for anything he could afford.

We looked at ALL the summer toys, Legos, Wooden Trains, Science Kits, bikes, scooters, motorized cars, skateboards and finally sporting goods. Such decisions to be made! Such a mean mommy for not letting them pick out anything that wasn't age appropriate!

Ultimately Skip decided he wanted a  land shark. It looks like this and somewhat scares me:

He also had enough for his first pair of inline skates, with a little money left over. He recently outgrew his learner skates and thus THEY will now be Harry's. A win/win situation.

Harry had his heart set on a soccer net but didn't have enough so they pooled their money and together bought one of those too.

So today, their outdoor time has included soccer for both, scooters for both, roller blades for Skip, roller skates for Harry, and one wild and crazy land shark.

And now that they boys have spent their money, I get to spend mine - increasing our health insurance coverage. Something tells me we may need it!
