The hat trick

This week we had an impromptu celebration over not only one event, but three!  My daughter and her boyfriend came over for dinner, and while Mike & I grilled outside, they played with the boys.  A little wiffle ball, some trampoline, and lots of laughs.  Dinner was grilled steaks and chicken, salad that Devin brought, and mixed garden veggies - from her garden and ours.  Harry found he not only likes grilled eggplant, he loves it. Skip tolerated it, but did eat it without complain or incident.

After dinner, Levi joined us and we celebrated three milestones! The first was my recent birthday since we were camping on the actual day, and didn't get to see Devin and Matt.

The second was Skip's 7th gotcha day. Yesterday was the 7-year anniversary of the day he legally became our son.

And finally, next week Harry will be SEVEN years old. Since we were all together this week, we celebrated all three events.

A cake for me (well 3/4 of a cake - long story), and cupcakes in the shape of 7 for both Skip & Harry.

The evening was low-key but so very enjoyable. Whenever family gets together is cause enough for celebration, but having three more reasons to thank God for his goodness, just make it all the more special.   I truly believe that the best times are those that involve little planning, small crowds, plenty of laughter  and lots of cake!  Don't you agree?
