It's Monday, and we're still in Menemsha...

After a very relaxing - while not *perfect* weather-wise - Sunday, we woke up to bright sunshine this morning, and a much quieter village. This place REALLY hops on the weekend, but today, it's quite peaceful, with most weekenders leaving last night or early today. After a very lazy, drawn out breakfast which included coffee for Mike & I while the boys enjoyed the luxury of electricity which afforded them the opportunity to watch a Caillou DVD. That was followed by fresh fruit salad topped with lowfat whipping cream - yum! I then got the boys their pancakes and bacon, while Mike fixed a few little things on the boat. After the boys ate, Mike and sat down to enjoy a rare quiet breakfast! After breakfast and chores (yes the boys even have chores on the boat) I sat with Harry to work on some pre-PreK work. A couple of pages to review colors and shapes, as well as writing his name. He has SUCH a short attention span and is easily distracted, so it will take some getting used to. He is quite capable of doing the Pre-K curriculum, he just needs to develop some focus and confidence. Once he was done, Skip did a few Summer Bridge work. He flew through the pages and was done pretty quickly. With that out of the way we got ready to head out in the kayaks for a short exploration around the island. We stopped at a small spit of sand where lots of shiprwreced boats have come to die, and the boys loved exploring the long lost "treasures". We then did some sand math with Harry - writing numbers in the soft sand for him to indentify. He did great. Recognizing all but 8 & 10. The rest he knew instantly, so we're in good shape going in to the beginning of school. He loved the sand writing, and didn't want it to end! We then paddled back to the boat, and unloaded our wet sand bodies. Mike is making lunch, the boys are playing around off the swim platform, catching jellyfish and searching for electric eels. Not sure WHY they think there are electric eels, but, they're happy! As for me, I'm um, oh yeah, sitting here uploading photos from our day!

The plan was to head out this afternoon for Cotuit but the online forecast is calling for severe thunderstorms. Mike is gonna check the marine forecast and we'll decide whether to stay put til the morning, or  brave them... Either way, life is good for us...
