Coming together...

The day we first heard of the devastation in Haiti just happened to be the hundredth day of school for us. While our day included all kinds of fun "100" activities, we wanted to do one that stood out from the rest. As a result of our brainstorming, we decided that the boys would raise $100 to send to the children in Haiti.  They were VERY excited about it and immediately made a container to hold the money. At the time we figured once they'd reach their goal, we would take a trip over to the Red Cross and bring their donation. 

Since that time the boys have worked hard at meeting their goal. They donated a portion of their weekly responsiblity money (formerly known as allowance), put all the change they came across in the house into the can, did extra chores and turned the money over to the cause, and even solicited their grandparents for a donation.

About the time they had met their goal, I came up with a better idea. I ran it by the boys and they were thrilled. A fellow adoptive parent, whose whole family is heading to Haiti next month to do mission work, will take the money for us and through her blog they will get a little glimpse into where the money is going! Its so much more personal than just writing a check to the Red Cross and we're grateful to Brenda for doing us this favor!
